Audition Process Overview
Auditioning for a production at the Midway Playhouse is a welcoming, inclusive, and organized experience designed to help you showcase your talents and prepare for a successful show. We strive to ensure a fair and unbiased casting process where everyone has an equal opportunity. Here’s what you can expect from the audition process:
Video Audition Submission
Uploading and Submitting
Important Dates
Auditioners must be high school (middle school) students between the ages of 14 and 18.
All participants are required to submit a video audition and complete an audition packet. The video audition requires you to sing 32 bars or 30 seconds of a song. Pop songs are encouraged. Start your video by introducing yourself with your full name and the audition song you've selected, then proceed directly to your performance. Make sure your video is clear, well-lit, and that the audio quality allows your voice to be heard over the accompaniment. Download video submission guide.
Once your video is ready, upload it to YouTube and create an unlisted link (make sure it is not private). Complete the audition packet with detailed personal information, your past theater, vocal, and dance experience, and a thorough review of the conflict calendar to indicate any scheduling conflicts. Please indicate ALL conflicts on the calendar. By filling out this calendar, you are committing to attend ALL rehearsals not marked as conflicting and ALL MANDATORY dress rehearsals. Send your audition packet and unlisted YouTube link to auditions@midwayplayhouse.org Download packet form.
Video auditions are due November 17th by 10:00 P.M. A callback list will be posted on the this page by November 19th for those who need to come in person. Callbacks will be held November 21st (4-9) and November 22nd (10:30-6:00), with a possible callback on November 24th. Not all called back will come the entire time listed. A detailed schedule will be posted with the callback list.
Rehearsal Attendance
There will be a parent meeting for those cast on December 1st at 4:00 P.M. Three after-school music rehearsals are scheduled for December 1st, 8th, and 15th. The rest of the regular rehearsals will begin in January as laid out in the audition packet. Attendance at all scheduled rehearsals is expected unless you have noted conflicts in your packet. Dress rehearsals are mandatory for all cast members. Adherence to the provided calendar promotes a respectful and productive rehearsal environment for everyone involved.
